After I toasted the first 4.3L v6 in my buggy by spinning rod bearing number 1, I made a few changes for the next motor. It has worked out great so here are the mods. The pan is from an Astro van and will fit 95 and older blocks.

First I added a windage tray. This one is for a chev smallblock V8 which I trimmed to fit. I also added a main cap baffle to prevent oil from flowing back into the crank on really steep climbs. I stole some playdo from my kids to check the clearances smile.gif .

For the pan, I made a compartment with a baffle and door to reduce potential starvation when coming down a steep incline. For the door, I used a standard door hinge. You can see from the side of the pan were the baffle is on the pan. The oil pickup tube is from a 4.3 4x4 pan and I've cut it down to fit how I wanted it.

It's all worked very nicely and although I was going to add an oil accumulator as well, it's still sitting on the shelf. I'll likely add the accumulator at some point but definately not a rush.

thats a rally cool idea . i never thought of that one.

i think i would of modified the pickup only to pick up from 3 points front middle and back.
no matter where the oil is in the pan the pick up will always get it.

or a floating pick-up.
some flexable rubber hose and a brass t fitting might of worked also.
this one works for fuel i did a couple to some fuel tanks.
